Hiking and/or Camel riding (8 Days / 7 Nights)
All meals such as breakfast, lunch and dinner are included and with every meal, you can enjoy nice Bedouin tea.
Camping equipment and the jeep assistance are also included for the hiking days.
Day 1: Airport / Amman
Upon arrival at Amman Airport, our representative welcomes you, assists you for visa fomalities, customs... and matches with your driver. Then transfer for circa 30 minutes to your hotel in Amman. The rest of the day is free. Dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Madaba / Mount Nebo / Dead Sea / Little Petra
After breakfast drive to Mt. Nebo, the place where Prophet Moses gazed at the promised land before he died and his alleged burial place. You visit the old church and can enjoy the view, overlooking the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and parts of Israel. We proceed to Madaba, where the famous mosaic 6th century map of Palestine in St. George's church can be found. Afterwards, we drive to the lowest point on earth, the Dead Sea, where you have leisure time and the chance to float on water. Continue to Petra for dinner, and overnight in your hotel.
Day3: Hiking in Little Petra / Petra
After breakfast, trekking visit of Little Petra. Stone age village via Siq Grab (natural canyon) to visit Badah (Nabatean agricultural fields and water irrigation system), via the shade of mountains overlooking Araba canyon to the Monastery (Nabatean temple) into the ancient city of Petra. From there, we go down to the City centre, visit the Museum, the temple of Qasr El-Bint, continue to the Snake monument, south of Petra and overlooking Petra centre. Overnight camping.
Day 4: Hiking in Petra
After breakfast, we will have a full day to continue Petra exploration. We will climb up to the High Place of Sacrifice, through the stairs and ancient paths, and appreciate the view on the city center. We will go back down via the secret Nabatean route to visit the Royal Tombs, the Theater, the Colonnaded Street. In the afternoon, we will go out of the ancient city through the magnificent Siq (the narrow stunning gorge in the rock) after a stop in front of The Treasury, or « Al-Khazneh ». After your visit of Petra, there are a few other options to enjoy your time in the city : Turkish bath, visit of the city of Wadi Musa, enjoy “Petra by night” (each Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, Petra is lighted by candles, through the Siq until the Treasury, with a traditional Bedouin sitting at the Treasury, music and story telling). Dinner and overnight at your hotel in Petra.
Day 5 : Hiking or camel riding in Wadi Rum
After breakfast, transfer to Wadi Rum ("the moon valley"): one of the most awe inspiring mountain deserts in the world! It brings to mind a dramatic moonscape of ancient valleys and towering weathered sandstone mountains rising out of the pink and white sand. Drop off by Wadi Sabbat, described by T.E. Lawrence in Seven Pillars of Wisdom, to start hiking via Wadi Um Eshreen (one of the highest hills in the area), with sand dunes and the rock of inscriptions. Continue to Barah canyon. Dinner and camping.
Day 6 : Hiking or camel riding in Wadi Rum
After breakfast, hiking via Barah canyon, a magnificent siq with big dunes, visit the Nabatean dam (water pools), continue via Khor El-Aajram to Burdah Rock Bridge (climb the most famous natural bridge for sunset). Dinner and overnight camping.
Day 7 : Hiking or camel riding in Wadi Rum / Amman
After breakfast, trekking to Um-Fruth Rock Brigde via Um Sabatah (red canyon), for a great viewpoint overlooking Jabal Qattar, continue to Khazali, the spring of Lawrence. At the end of the hike, transfer to Amman for overnight stay.
Day 8 : transfer to Amman airport for departure
